Barbary Coast Burlesque

Live burlesque is an institution that flourished in the United States from the late 1800s until Prohibition.  In recent years, it has recaptured the nation’s imagination as a stylish and provocative form of entertainment that is appreciated on a variety of levels.  Much more than just a strip-tease, the best live burlesque shows incorporate storylines, feature amazing original characters, and stimulate all the senses. Burlesque has also traditionally highlighted the skills of the odd and unusual, including contortionists, jugglers and the like.

Barbary Coast Burlesque originated in 2008 in a small, seedy bar in the SOMA district of that born-again hotbed of burlesque interest, San Francisco.  Named after a part of the city notorious for its colorful low-life and led by local legend Bunny Pistol, BCB features an array of top performers who together produce unforgettable presentations, bringing with them an aura of sophistication, playfulness and intrigue.

After gaining a strong foundation and a devoted fan base, Barbary Coast Burlesque finally found its home of two years at Yoshi’s, one of the world’s most respected jazz venues. This cabaret of dazzling beauty has gained a reputation as one of the greatest burlesque shows in the country. Their new home, along the historic Barbary Coast, host Bunny and her cast of dancers, contortionists, chanteuses, and freaks are the life of the party!
